Biografía/Biography:Español:En el mundo del techno, al igual que en el mundo real, hay también clases y categorías. Y Laurent Garnier es, como se diría en el argot aeronáutico, un auténtico 'first class'. De hecho, está considerado de forma unánime como uno de 'los tres technores' (los otros dos serían, lógicamente, Jeff Mills y Carl Cox), y goza de una popularidad inmensa entre todos los technoheads, que han sabido valorar su fecunda inspiración como productor y su probada maestría como DJ.
Desde su debut en el legendario club The Hacienda de Manchester al comienzo de la explosión del acid house, Laurent Garnier ha sido uno de los principales exponentes en el desarrollo de la escena musical electrónica. Durante los últimos diez años se ha forjado una gran reputación a nivel internacional al actuar en los mejores clubs y festivales de todo el mundo. Laurent Garnier no es un Dj normal, sus devotos seguidores son capaces de hacer largas colas para verle actuar. Ha sido nombrado mejor Dj del mundo en varias ocasiones y en diferentes publicaciones. Desde entonces, Garnier decidió descargar su agenda como DJ para concentrarse en producir su propia música. Sin embargo, esta decisión no le impidió actuar en el escenario principal de la primera Techno Parade en Paris en septiembre de 1998, frente a 100.000 personas. También llegó a actuar en directo en los mejores festivales europeos (Sonar, Borealis, T in The Park, Creamfields…) antes de volver ese mismo año al escenario del Olympia acompañado de 14 músicos y bailarines. La experiencia de sus actuaciones en directo, incluida la que realizó en el Montreux Jazz Festival, se convirtió en una gran influencia para su siguiente álbum: Unreasonable Behaviour. El sorprendente álbum explora diferentes sonidos distintos de los que Garnier estaba acostumbrado. Los sonidos del jazz en City Sphere y en el excelente The Man With The Red Face, sin lugar a dudas de lo mejor de un larga duración que no deja de ser un resultado directo de la experiencia de Garnier en vivo. En 2003 su nombre vuelve a saltar a un primer plano con la publicación de sus cinco sets favoritos de la última década en un triple recopilatorio llamado Excess Lugagge. Un quíntuple CD en el que se incluyen Old school at Sonar Festival, Techno soul in Detroit City y Emotion with the PBB Mix. Los otros dos mixes escogidos por el francés -en la BBC y en el club parisino Rex- se publicaron en la tienda online de F Com.
A principios del 2005 llegaría el esperado nuevo álbum de Garnier, The Cloud Making Machine, tal vez su LP más personal y menos bailable, pero, por supuesto, con la misma calidad a la que nos tiene acostumbrados. Después lanzaría los esperados remixes en una colección de dos entregas con el título, The Cloud Making Machine Reworks con remezclas a cargo de artistas tan dispares como DJ Marky , Christian Smith & John Selway, Slam o los Troublemakers, en la primera entrega, y Carl Craig y Alex Attias, en la segunda. Un año después lanzaría al mercado, el doble Retrospective donde se incluían temas inéditos y algunas rarezas como el audio del video-clip de Flashback. En 2007 se dedice a lanzar algunas tomas en directo, Public Outburst, con su banda formada por Bugge Wesseltoft, Philippe Nadaud y Benjamin Rippert grabadas en festivales como C/O Pop o Rock Werchter Festival. Después de algún tiempo de no editar nada nuevo, en 2008 se decide a sacar Back to the roots E.P. en el sello alemán Innervisions. Ese mismo año estrena la segunda era del club Row, esta vez en las afueras de Barcelona. Reforzará su buena relación con los gestores de Florida 135 con una doble actuación en el festival del desierto de Monegros.
Laurent Garnier tiene su propio programa de radio, se llama “It IS What It Is” y se retransmite por varias radios francesas: Sur RadioFG, Radio Grenouille (Marsella), Radio Pluriel (Lyon) donde Laurent destaca en cada programa las mejores producciones bajo su punto de vista de los mejores djs internacionales.
